Pyongyang, June 7 (KCNA) -- A lecture was given in Tokyo on June 4 to commemorate the 13th anniversary of the June 15 joint declaration. Present there were officials of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan, Koreans of different social standings, members of the Solidarity for Progress of south Korea and members of the Japanese Regional Committee of the Overseas Side Committee for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration. Speeches were made at the lecture. The speakers said that the June 15 joint declaration serves as reunification programme which calls for independently solving the issue of the country's reunification by concerted efforts of the Koreans. Thanks to the publication of the joint declaration, the inter-Korean relations had turned into those of reconciliation and cooperation from those of distrust and confrontation and the June 15 era of reunification was opened, enjoying full support from all the Koreans and other people in the world, they said, adding: After the emergence of the Lee Myung Bak regime in south Korea the inter-Korean relations have become hostile. The present chief executive is pursuing the policy of confrontation with the DPRK just like the preceding "government". If the south Korean chief executive has even an iota of national conscience, she should drop the confrontation policy and support and implement the June 15 joint declaration. The U.S. is misleading the public opinion to give impression that the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula spawned because of the DPRK's possession of nuclear weapons. The issue was caused because the U.S. introduced nuclear weapons into south Korea, steadily beefed up arms and equipment and staged nuclear war drills against the DPRK, posing greater nuclear threats to it. They urged the U.S. to abandon the reckless adventure for a total nuclear war and opt for concluding a peace treaty with the DPRK. |
