Rodong Sinmun Dismisses US Call for "Denuclearization" Hypocritical
Pyongyang, June 11 (KCNA) -- The U.S. administration has allotted 537 million U.S. dollars for the modernization of nuclear weapons in Europe from the budget for fiscal 2014, according to the New York Times.

Rodong Sinmun Tuesday in a bylined commentary observes in this regard:

The U.S. planned investment of a fabulous amount of money in the modernization of its nukes deployed in Europe is ascribable to the European countries' heated-up debate on the existence and mission of the U.S. nuclear weapons.

The gravity of U.S. moves is that it sparks off a fresh arms race, harassing world peace and security and making relations between countries complicated.

Ridiculous is that the U.S. dares brand this or that country as a "nuclear criminal state" at will.

For a vivid example, although the DPRK has taken just countermeasures for self-defence to cope with nuclear threat from the U.S., the latter has intensified its move to pressurize and stifle the DPRK under the pretext of "provocation" and "threat" while urging Pyongyang to show the "will for denuclearization", "sincere stand" and the like.

Washington's sinister intention is to attain its goal after diverting elsewhere the focus of the world community critical of its act of wrecking peace in relevant countries, regions and other parts in the world.

With no sleight of hand, however, can the U.S. deceive others.

The Obama administration's call for "a world without nuclear weapons" is startlingly at odds with its stepped-up modernization of nuclear weapons.

The more nuclear threat the U.S. poses, the stronger counteraction it will entail, and the arms race caused by it will bring more miserable end, putting the U.S. at risk.
