Pyongyang Essential Foodstuff Factory Updated
Pyongyang, June 11 (KCNA) -- The Pyongyang Essential Foodstuff Factory has been rebuilt on a modern basis, reminding visitors of a rest home.

The factory is associated with devoted efforts of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il, who had cared so much for the betterment of the diet of Pyongyang citizens.

Saying that soy and bean paste are indispensable subsidiary food for Koreans, Kim Il Sung had worked heart and soul to put their production on an industrial basis since the country's liberation from Japan's colonial rule.

At an enlarged plenary meeting of the Pyongyang City Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea in January Juche 50 (1961), he suggested building a soybean paste and sauce factory in Pyongyang, giving details of it ranging from its scale and equipment to builders. Afterwards, he personally selected the factory site.

When visiting the factory on November 7, 1968, he made rounds of soy and bean paste production processes, giving important teachings on how to normalize the factory's operation.

Kim Jong Il took a measure to expand its production capacity, seeing to it that raw materials for the factory's operation were supplied above anything else.

Even in the days of his foreign tour, he matured a plan to build an up-to-date process of refined table oil production at the factory. In 2010 and 2011, he showed the orientation and ways for installing processes of table oil, seasoning and vitamin E production at the factory and renovating all other production processes.

All production processes of the rebuilt factory are computerized.

The factory finished assembling all equipment of the processes in cooperation with Kim Il Sung University, Kim Chaek University of Technology, Pyongyang Han Tok Su University of Light Industry and the Bioengineering Branch of the State Academy of Sciences.

It boasts of a tele-education room and e-library.

Kim Il Nam, rector of Tele-education College of Kim Chaek University of Technology, told KCNA that the college has given scientific and technological lectures to its technicians and workers through the room almost every day.

The factory has recently succeeded in inventing a new method of saccharizing liquefied enzyme, vital to production of essential foodstuff.

When visiting the factory some days ago, supreme leader Kim Jong Un watched a video on its technological updating, saying that the factory helps compare the present with the past and picture what would be in the future to oneself.
