Pyongyang, June 15 (KCNA) -- Jong Jae Ryong and three others were declared not guilty on June 12 in south Korea. They were imprisoned in the 1970s on charges of violation of "Emergency Measure" No. 9 proclaimed by the power of the "yusin" dictatorship in south Korea. They underwent misfortune after being sentenced to prison terms on charges of violation of that measure for the mere reason that they criticized the "yusin" system in 1977 and 1978. At a retrial the Seoul High Court admitted that the measure lacked reason for detention as it was used for such illegal acts as encroaching upon basic rights including abridgement of freedom and rights of people. Accordingly, the court made such decision, declaring the measure invalid. The court said the assertions of the accused in those days were just, adding it was wrong that their claims were turned down. |
