In the statement he said:

The publication of the June 15 joint declaration was a historic event which opened a wide avenue for inter-Korean dialogue and cooperation and ushered in the new era of independent reunification of Korea.

The joint declaration is the precious fruition of noble patriotism and wise leadership of General Secretary Kim Jong Il, who regarded national reunification as his lifetime mission.

The Korean people solemnly declared to the world their will to solve the issue of Korea's reunification independently by pooling the efforts of the north and the south and this was unanimously supported and welcomed by the world peace-loving people desirous of independent and peaceful reunification of Korea.

However, tense situation in which a war may break out any moment prevails on the Korean Peninsula due to the confrontation moves of the south Korean authorities who are displeased with national reconciliation, unity and reunification and the U.S. moves to stifle the DPRK and nuclear war exercises against it.

The New Yugoslav Communist Party and world progressive people fully support the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration, regarding it as the most reasonable and practical way for achieving the independent and peaceful reunification of Korea.

The New Yugoslav Communist Party will fully support the Korean people striving for the country's reunification under the leadership of the dear respected Kim Jong Un.
