His start of work brought about a new turn in strengthening the WPK and accomplishing the revolutionary cause of Juche.

With his extraordinary caliber, distinguished leadership ability and noble popular traits, Kim Jong Il had led the WPK and the Korean revolution always to victory.

He, through his energetic ideo-theoretical activities, formulated the revolutionary idea of President Kim Il Sung as Kimilsungism and clearly showed how to achieve the single-minded unity of whole society.

He authored "On the Fundamentals of Revolutionary Party Building", "Giving Priority to Ideological Work Is Essential for Accomplishing Socialism" and many other works to indicate the tasks and ways for developing the WPK into the eternal party of Kim Il Sung, modeling whole society on his idea and accomplishing the revolutionary cause of Juche. They have served as guidelines for the party work to be conducted in line with the idea and intention of Kim Il Sung.

He also advanced the slogan "We Serve the People!" for all the party organizations and officials to remain faithful to the people in order to develop the party into the motherly party.

True to the President's idea of believing in the people as in Heaven, he pursued the all-embracing politics, the benevolent politics based on love and trust, in all realms of society. This helped the WPK steer the cause of socialism to victory, enjoying the absolute trust of the popular masses.

The 4th Conference of the WPK in April Juche 101 (2012) decided to hold Kim Jong Il in high esteem as its general secretary forever and glorify his revolutionary life and immortal feats.
