Changgol Revolutionary Site

Pyongyang, June 20 (KCNA) -- There is the Changgol Revolutionary Site in Changsong County, North Phyongan Province of the DPRK. President Kim Il Sung stayed there during the Fatherland Liberation War (1950-1953). In October Juche 39 (1950) he presided over an important meeting of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) and the Korean People's Army (KPA) at the site, guiding the work to bring about a radical turn throughout the country. At the site there is a house where the President called a Political Committee meeting of the C.C., WPK on November 2-3, 1950. At the meeting he advanced important tasks for strengthening the Party on the basis of scientific analysis of the prevailing military and political situation. He also met a leading official of Changsong County several times, instructing him to develop the county in political and economic aspects. He gave the KPA an order to launch a general counteroffensive against the U.S. imperialist aggressors and set forth the detailed tasks to this end in a house of the site where the KPA General Staff was situated. The site has a house in which the President convened a meeting of the KPA Supreme Command to make a historic speech "Let Us Be Fully Prepared for a New Counteroffensive" on October 30, 1950. At the site there are also an air-raid shelter and a well used by the President in the period. On June 13 supreme leader Kim Jong Un visited this revolutionary site and called for preserving it on a permanent basis to educate the servicepersons and civilians in the immortal exploits and noble personality of President Kim Il Sung, who led the Fatherland Liberation War to victory. |
