S. Korean Authorities Are to Blame for Failure of Inter-Korean Dialogue: Rodong Sinmun

Pyongyang, June 22 (KCNA) -- Ryu Kil Jae, puppet minister of Unification of south Korea, recently made a string of excuses over the abortive talks. He told at the Diplomacy and Unification Committee of the National Assembly that "the south side demanded that the director of the United Front Department of the north be present at the talks" though he was not a man at working-level "as broad agendas were needed to be discussed. He even made such vicious remarks that "the north should take an approach different from that in the past". On the same day, members of "the Saenuri Party", too, made ridiculous remarks that "the north is to blame for the abortive talks" and "the north took no sincere approach to the talks". Rodong Sinmun Saturday in a bylined commentary observes in this regard: This is a disgusting and ridiculous act to divert elsewhere the public criticism of the regime, shift the blame for the abortive talks on to the DPRK and justify the south Korean regime's racket for confrontation with the DPRK. The south Korean regime must be responsible for the abortive talks as it, displeased with the north-south dialogue, invented an ridiculous pretext to prevent the talks from being successfully held. The DPRK proposed talks between the authorities of the north and the south, a result of its broad magnanimity with which it responded to the offer repeatedly made by the south side. The DPRK made very possible effort to mend the frayed inter-Korean ties as early as possible and open the road of national reconciliation, unity, peace and reunification. The aim sought by the south Korean regime in persistently seeking to make the talks abortive is to tarnish the image of the DPRK making dynamic efforts for dialogue and detente, maintain the international "sanctions" and pressure on the DPRK and continue pursuing the policy for confrontation with it at any cost. The south Korean ruling quarters can not deceive the world no matter how desperately they seek to evade the responsibility for the failure of the talks by resorting to such wordplay. |
