There took place the sixth meeting of the U.S. Regional Committee of the Overseas Side Committee for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration. Present there were members of the regional committee and delegates of the western, central, New York and Washington regions under the committee.

A report on the activities of the committee over the past one year was made at the meeting. Then, it discussed the orientation of this year's work.

The organization called for marking the anniversaries of the July 4 joint statement, August 15 liberation of Korea and the October 4 declaration this year as national joint events for reunification.

A resolution was read out at the meeting.

It said it has been reconfirmed that to positively implement the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration is the most correct way of improving the bedeviled inter-Korean relations and settling the tense situation.

Whoever loves the nation and desires reunification should devote himself to achieving national co-prosperity in the spirit of the June 15 joint declaration, it pointed out.

A meeting was held to mark the anniversary of the joint declaration that day.

The historic joint declaration was read out at the meeting and speeches were made at the meeting.

Speakers referred to the historic significance of the adoption of the joint declaration. They called on all Koreans to get united close and open a new phase of national reunification.
