Attending the rally were senior party and state officials, the chairperson of a friendly party, officials of party, power bodies, social organizations, ministries and national institutions, officials in the fields of science, education, literature and arts, public health and media, and other citizens, youth and students. Overseas compatriots and the chief of the Pyongyang mission of the Anti-Imperialist National Democratic Front were present there.

Present there on invitation were diplomatic envoys of different countries and foreign guests.

Speeches were made at the rally.

Speakers said that the U.S. imperialists ignited the Korean War for the sinister purpose of stifling the DPRK and dominating the world, adding that they hurled into it huge armed forces for aggression, the south Korean puppet army and troops of their fifteen satellite countries, reducing everything of this land to ashes and committing the most barbaric and inhumane crimes in the world history of wars.

They went on:

The U.S. imperialists, however, suffered a disgraceful defeat in face of the army and people of the DPRK who turned out to honorably defend the freedom and independence of the country, sovereignty of the nation and gains of the revolution under the outstanding leadership of the great Generalissimo Kim Il Sung.

The U.S. imperialists, far from drawing a due lesson from the ignominious defeat it sustained in the last Korean War, have persistently pursued their hostile policy towards the DPRK and stepped up the moves for a war against it for the last several decades, gravely threatening its sovereignty and supreme interests.

The history and situation go to prove that the U.S. imperialists were provokers of the Korean War and are the root cause of all the misfortunes and sufferings of the Korean nation and that they are the sworn enemy of the Koreans.

The speakers called for resolutely smashing the reckless war moves of the U.S. imperialists and south Korean puppet group against the DPRK and achieving a final victory in the all-out confrontation with the U.S. and the drive for building a thriving socialist nation.

The rally was followed by a mammoth anti-U.S. demonstration.
