Present there were senior officials of local party and power bodies and working people's organizations, officials and other people of industrial establishments, co-op farms and teachers and students of universities and colleges.

At the rallies speakers recalled that the U.S. imperialists ignited the Korean war more than six decades ago for the sinister purpose of stifling the young DPRK and dominating the world, adding that they hurled into it huge armed forces and large quantities of destructive weapons and committed unheard-of genocide.

They went on:

The U.S. imperialists, however, suffered a disgraceful defeat in face of the army and people of the DPRK who turned out in their courageous struggle to honorably defend the freedom and independence of the country under the outstanding leadership of the great Generalissimo Kim Il Sung.

The U.S. imperialists, far from drawing a due lesson from the ignominious defeat it sustained in the last Korean war, have stepped up the moves for igniting a war against the DPRK and stifling it, hurting the dignity of its supreme leadership and gravely threatening the sovereignty of the country.

It is the final conclusion made by the army and the people of the DPRK that they should settle accounts with the U.S. imperialists by force of arms. The aggressors and provokers will face merciless strikes of the Korean People's Army and come to know what a real war is like.

The rallies were followed by mammoth anti-U.S. demonstrations.
