The statement recalled that the spokesman for the NDC made an important proposal on holding the high-level talks between the authorities of the DPRK and the U.S. to remove the tensions on the Korean Peninsula and achieve regional peace and security.

This is a peace-loving and broad-minded important resolution made by the DPRK out of desire for detente on the peninsula and the overhaul of the bilateral relations, the statement said.

It is the U.S. which has escalated the situation on the peninsula, the statement said, adding it ignited the war against the DPRK in 1950 and has led the situation to the brink of war, persistently pursuing the vicious policy against the DPRK although 60 years have passed since the Armistice Agreement was signed.

The U.S. is still misleading public opinion to pass the buck for the escalating tension to the DPRK by confusing right and wrong, and steadily increasing the nuclear threat and pressure on the DPRK, it noted.

It stressed that the U.S. should clearly know who its rival is and how the situation is and respond to the DPRK's proposal.
