Pyongyang, July 1 (KCNA) -- The Korea Education Fund (KEF) is going ahead with aiding activities for schools. This year, KEF plans to direct efforts to the improvement of teachers' qualities and educational conditions and supply of athletic equipment. Meanwhile the fund has stepped up cooperation with overseas Koreans and non-governmental organizations and donors of different countries. Last year, it supplied to orphans and children in disaster-afflicted areas such aid materials as school things, clothes, footwear, food and medicines on nearly 50 installments. It also provided 77 schools with teaching and experimental apparatuses, renovated 15 schools and arranged 12 rounds of refresher courses for teachers. Some 130 projects were implemented with over 190 schools becoming beneficiaries. KEF established relations of cooperation with New Hope Foundation, Northeast Asia Foundation for Education and Culture and many other organizations and personages. Ko Song Ryol, KEF secretary general, told KCNA that the fund would try to get more donors in implementing planned projects. The 2012 annual report was issued some days ago. |
