Kim Jong Un Visits Cemetery of Fallen Fighters of KPA
Pyongyang, July 1 (KCNA) -- Marshal Kim Jong Un, first secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, first chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army (KPA), visited the Cemetery of Fallen Fighters of the KPA whose construction is close to completion.

The cemetery located at the entrance of Ryonmot-dong, Pyongyang City, consists of gatepost, monument to proposition, monument to poem dedicated to the fallen fighters, memorial tower, wreath-laying stand, graves of fallen fighters, etc.

Before the gatepost, he said that the gatepost was built in a peculiar style, adding that the stone pillars depicting the fluttering party and national flags with figures "1950" and "1953" inscribed on them visually remind visitors that it is the cemetery of martyrs who laid down their lives during the Fatherland Liberation War.

The fallen fighters of the KPA who performed feats in the war came to lead an eternal life under the care of the WPK and the DPRK, he stressed.

Going round the memorial tower in the center of the cemetery, he said it is good to have erected the tower by combining a rifle, a bayonet and the national flag as a single representation. The flag of the Republic seems to flutter, he added.

Standing before the area of the semi-circle cemetery where the remains of fallen fighters would be buried, he said there is the owner of every grave from olden times, adding that the WPK is the owner of the graves of known and unknown martyrs.

Looking at the monuments to proposition and poem, he underscored the need to inscribe well the propositions given by President Kim Il Sung and words honoring the fallen fighters.

After learning about the greening of the cemetery, he gave an instruction to create wider greenery in the education ground so as to increase the total space of the greenery.

He also learned about the information service conducted through visual aids for soldier-builders involved in the construction of the cemetery.

He underlined the need to spruce up the cemeteries of the martyrs in Pyongyang City as well as provincial seats across the country so that they may help school youth and children and people know well about the feats performed by the army and people during the war and mass heroism and patriotic spirit displayed by them.

He was accompanied by Choe Hwi, Pak Thae Song, Hwang Pyong So, Hong Yong Chil, Ma Won Chun, Yun Tong Hyon, Pak Jong Chon and Ju To Hyon.
