Stop to Illegal Construction of Jeju Naval Base Demanded

| Pyongyang, July 5 (KCNA) -- South Korean civic organizations including the Kangjong Village Society and the Measure Council for Checking the Construction of Jeju Naval Base held a press conference on Jeju Island on July 2. They demanded the puppet authorities stop the project. Speakers accused the military authorities of seriously contaminating waters off the village where the illegal construction of the naval base is going on. When two inhabitants made their ways into the construction site in protest against environmental pollution, the military authorities arrested them on charges of "disturbing the project", they charged. They urged the military authorities to discontinue the project and stop suppressing the protestors. |
