At the conference speakers recalled 41 years have passed since the publication of the July 4 joint statement the keynote of which is the three principles of national reunification--independence, peaceful reunification and great national unity.

The spirit of the joint statement has been carried forward and developed into the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration despite the vicious moves of the separatist forces, they said.

Now is the time to give full play to the spirit of independence, peace and great national unity, they said, calling upon all those who love the nation to turn out in the struggle for national reunification regardless of idea, political view and religious belief.

The Kaesong Industrial Zone is a product of the June 15 joint declaration, they said, urging the present "government" to opt for dialogue with the north without conditions, not blocking exchange and cooperation undertakings of NGOs.

They called for handing the era of peace and prosperity over to posterity by concluding a peace treaty on the Korean Peninsula this year marking the 60th anniversary of the Armistice Agreement.
