Kim Il Sung Devotes Himself to Agricultural Development

Pyongyang, July 9 (KCNA) -- President Kim Il Sung in his lifetime gave field guidance to a great number of farms to boost the country's grain output. His field guidance was not subject to time or weather conditions. He established the Juche method of farming suitable to Korea's geographical conditions and worked heart and soul to put the farming on an intensive basis. Whenever visiting farms, he shared with their peasants the experience he gained in cultivating crops on the experimental field of his residence. Once, he made a long journey overnight to a farm to see how its rice-planting was going. One autumn day Kim Il Sung visited a farm. He asked a work-team leader of the farm to pick up a few ears of maize. As it was getting dark, he carefully looked at the ears with the help of the car headlight. When the officials requested him to leave the farm, he told them that he was very satisfied to see the bumper crop and there was nothing more important for him than to discuss ways for the betterment of people's living. In March Juche 82 (1993) alone, the President guided nearly 10 consultative meetings of agricultural officials in an effort to settle the food shortage in the country, though he was over 80 years old. |
