Health Food in Midsummer

Pyongyang, July 13 (KCNA) -- Korea has entered the hottest period of summer, which is called Sambok (three ten days of the period) season. Sambok is divided into Chobok (the beginning of first ten days), Jungbok (the beginning of second ten days) and Malbok (the beginning of third ten days). This year Chobok falls on July 13, Jungbok on July 23 and Malbok on August 12. In the season, the Korean people have taken hot dishes helpful to prevention of human body from being affected by hot weather. The custom is based on the principle of traditional Korean medical treatment or the principle "like cures like." The dishes mainly include chicken bouilli, beef pepper-soup and fish porridge. Such dishes top the menu of local restaurants in the season. |
