As long as the north and the south of Korea stand in confrontation with each other, it is hard to create an atmosphere of national reconciliation and unity.

There is no reason whatsoever for the north and the south to fail to defuse such confrontation.

The differing ideologies and social system that have long existed between the north and the south of Korea cannot be any ground for fostering antagonism and confrontation between compatriots.

Such confrontation will only lead to a war.

Ceaseless war drills of various missions being staged by the south Korean regime in collusion with the U.S. are criminal acts of escalating the political and military confrontation between the north and the south of Korea and disturbing peace on the Korean Peninsula.

Any military exercise is an open threat to the other party.

Exposed to such threat, peace is unthinkable and distrust will get deeper between compatriots.

The reunification of the country can be achieved only through the great national unity. Ours is the homogeneous nation with the history and culture spanning 5 000 years. Although the nation is partitioned by foreign forces, it can be reunified on the basis of its common denominator.

It is impossible to avoid confrontation and war if one side forces the other side to accept its own social system, making the differing ideologies and social systems absolute.

The south Korean authorities do not take a positive approach towards dialogue and cooperation, talking about "confidence" whenever an opportunity presents itself, and is chilling the sincere efforts of the DPRK, touting "new south-north relations" and the like.

As long as the south Korean regime persists in confrontation with compatriots, paying no heed to the voices of the nation, it is quite impossible to mend the inter-Korean ties.

All Koreans in the north, the south and abroad should turn out as one in the patriotic struggle to pave a wide avenue for defusing the inter-Korean confrontation and achieving independent reunification, peace and prosperity.
