Referring to the disclosure of the results of investigation made by the Board of Audit and Inspection that the project for improving four large rivers started with the purpose of building a big canal from the outset, the body said the project proved to be a fraud aimed to deceive the people.

The promise made by Lee not to go ahead with the canal project was a whopping lie, the body said, adding that he must be severely punished.

Noting that "government" institutions belatedly admitted the assertions made by experts and various organizations from long ago, the body said that if the Board of Audit and Inspection had conducted proper investigation into the issue, the four large rivers would not have been caught in such a predicament.

It said that Lee and the former regime must be held responsible for the situation from legal and political aspects.
