Large Candlelight Action Staged in S. Korea

Pyongyang, July 15 (KCNA) -- A large-scale candlelight action took place at Seoul Square on Saturday to denounce the illegal acts of the puppet Intelligence Service (IS). It was sponsored by the "Emergency Situation Council for Condemning IS's Interference in the Politically-motivated Presidential Election" of south Korea made up of more than 200 civic and public organizations.

Attending it were 23,000 persons, including members of civic and public organizations, citizens and lawmakers of opposition parties.

At the rally speakers accused the IS of continuing to interfere in politics by justifying its opening to public of the minutes of the south-north summit despite public condemnation.

They condemned the IS for interfering in the election, putting pressure on the courts and prosecution's investigation and conducting surveillance of politicians, unionists, civic and public organizations, etc. over the past five years.

If the case of the IS's interference in the election is not settled, the law will be meaningless in south Korea, in fact, they charged.

They demanded an immediate resignation of the director of the IS and a prompt state investigation into the IS.
