Sunchon University of Chemical Engineering was named after Hero of the Republic Ri Su Bok who died heroic death at the age of 18 by silencing an enemy pillbox with his body during the battle on Height 1211, thus opening the way to the unit's charge. This university produced heroes of the Republic and labor heroes including Hong Chun Sik, Ri Hui Yun and Jon Pom Jun.

Jo Kun Sil Wonsan University of Technology produced Twice Labor Hero Jong Yong Man and six other heroes. Jong Yong Man, Kim Il Sung Prize winner and people's artist, earned fame in Korean paintings by creating the masterpiece "The Evening Glow over Kangson".

Kim Jong Hul Primary School in Kim Chaek City produced 10 heroes. Kim Jong Hul was a pilot who destroyed an enemy warship through a kamikaze attack.

Jo Ok Hui was the first woman hero during the wartime. She was arrested by the enemy during the temporary strategic retreat. Though she lost her both eyes due to enemy's cruel torture, she died heroic death, shouting "Long live General Kim Il Sung!" Jo Ok Hui Haeju Teacher Training College produced a disabled soldier hero.

Jang Thae Hwa was a hero who blocked the enemy's gun muzzle with his chest at the age of 22. Jang Thae Hwa Senior Secondary School in Sakju County produced several heroes who performed feats in socialist construction.

Ri Chol Un, Kim Chang Hak, Kim Kuk Jin, Ri Chun Hui, An Ok Bo and many other heroes have been produced by the schools named after wartime heroes. They performed feats in defending the leader and social system, in major construction projects and education of young people.

This clearly proves that the traits of living and working like the heroes who bravely fought, unhesitatingly devoting their lives during the wartime, are being fully displayed generation after generation.
