Monument to Fallen Fighters of KPA Renovated

Pyongyang, July 20 (KCNA) -- The monument to the fallen fighters of the Korean People's Army located on Namsan Hill in Wonsan, Kangwon Province has been renovated on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Korean People's victory in the great Fatherland Liberation War. The monument consists of pedestal, gatepost, wreath-laying stand and plaza. Portrayed on the pedestal are embossed with a cap-badge of the Korean People's Army, a rifle and the red flag and before them stand group sculptures depicting soldiers of the Ground Force, Navy and Air and Anti-Air Force of the Korean People's Army. Figures reading "June 25, 1950", "July 27, 1953" are inscribed on the gatepost and Hero Ri Su Bok's poem "For My Only Motherland" is inscribed on the grave stone in the plaza. Buried under the pedestal are remains of fallen fighters of the KPA who died heroic deaths on the battle fields during the Fatherland Liberation War. |
