The action began with a press conference in front of the U.S. embassy in Seoul on July 19.

Speakers at the press conference said that dark clouds of the Cold War are still hanging heavily over the Korean Peninsula though six decades have passed since the conclusion of the Armistice Agreement.

The U.S. and south Korean authorities have persisted in their hostile policy towards the DPRK, blocking peace and reunification on the peninsula.

Independent reunification is the only way to be followed by the Korean nation.

It is only south Korea in the world where foreign troops have been present for nearly seven decades.

An end should be put to the U.S. military presence in south Korea as it is the root cause of national division and sufferings. A decisive phase of peaceful reunification would be opened at the moment the U.S. forces are withdrawn and a peace treaty is concluded on the peninsula.

The speakers were vocal criticizing the present authorities for denying the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration.

They held that the operation in the Kaesong Industrial Zone should be normalized as soon as possible, tour of Mt. Kumgang resumed and the reunion of the separated families and their relatives realized.

At the end of the conference the participants gathered in front of the "government" building and held a meeting demanding the unconditional resumption of dialogue between the north and the south and implementation of the joint declaration.

They held a press conference near Chongwadae slamming the puppet authorities for going reckless to bring the inter-Korean relations to a collapse and deny the joint declaration.

While the action was under way press conferences, meetings and signature campaigns took place in various parts of Seoul including Kwanghwamun and U.S. military base in Ryongsan.
