The MBC broadcasting said on July 17 that search into houses and offices of Chun and his families and relatives resulted in discovery of property worth a huge amount of dollars.

This gave the lie to Chun's assertion that he has only 290 000 won in his deposit book.

Chun has led a luxurious life through the connivance of the prosecution. Even though the prosecution knew that part of the confidential funds collected by Chun have been kept by his son, it has not withdrew them.

The prosecution has responsibility for finding out the origin of Chun's funds and collecting them.

KBS on July 18 said that children of Chun keep in stock property worth over 100 billion won, adding that this arouses doubt as to whether the origin of the asset is Chun's confidential funds or not.

Hangyore and Kyunghyang Daily in editorials on July 17 said that it is unpardonable that the military dictator who lined his pocket with dark money running at astronomical amount is allowed to hand it over to his children.

Chun has been able to lead a safe life with his property hidden behind because of the prosecution's indolent execution of law and dereliction of duty, they said, urging the need to discover all his hidden property, though belatedly.
