Pro-Reunification People Sentenced to Prison Terms in S. Korea

| Pyongyang, July 25 (KCNA) -- The Seoul Central District Court in south Korea sentenced the permanent representative of the Youth and Students Solidarity for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration to three years in prison on charge of violation of the "Security Law", according to south Korean KBS on July 23. The chairman and a member of the executive committee of the body were also sentenced to two years and one year and six months in prison. The authorities of south Korea indicted them in 2011 for conducting such "actions following the north and benefiting the enemy" as disseminating and lauding the Songun politics by holding seminars on the Songun politics between 2006 and 2010. They staged a trial according to the indictment and took legal actions against leading members of the organization after branding the body as "an enemy-benefiting organization". |
