The championship brought together hundreds of men and women players of 69 countries. DPRK players won four trophy cups, 21 gold medals, four silver medals and three bronze medals, coming first in country standing.

Also returning home on the same day was the delegation of the Students Sports Association of the DPRK headed by Jon Kuk Man, chairman of the Association who doubles as vice-chairman of the Education Commission, after participating in the 27th Universiad held in Kazan, Russia.
