U.S. Troops Urged to Withdraw from South Korea
Pyongyang, July 26 (KCNA) -- There took place a rally in front of the U.S.-south Korea "Combined Forces Command" in Seoul on July 21 in demand of the withdrawal of the U.S. troops from south Korea.

The rally was held by the Group for Implementing June 15 Independent National Reunification for Carrying Out Joint Declaration and Concluding a Peace Treaty. It was made up of the South Headquarters of the Pan-National Alliance for Korea's Reunification, the People for Achieving Peace and Reunification, the Association for Supporting Prisoners of Conscience of the Family Movement for Realizing Democracy and other public organizations of south Korea.

The participants termed the "UN Command" nothing but a tool that has been used for the U.S. domination and interference in south Korea and the implementation of its policy of aggression as a servant of the U.S.

GIs' crimes are on the steady increase and the south Koreans are undergoing misfortunes and sufferings, they noted, deploring that this is an inevitable outcome of the unequal SOFA and the spurious alliance.

Paragraph 60 of Article 4 of the Armistice Agreement signed on July 27, 1953 calls for the withdrawal of all foreign forces from Korea and peaceful settlement of the Korean issue but the U.S. military presence in south Korea lasted for 60 years under the pretext of south Korea-U.S. "Mutual Defense Treaty."

Those who seek to keep this alliance with the U.S. regard the U.S. interests as their own, an indication of their subservience, they held.

They called on the people from all walks of life to dynamically struggle to put an end to the ceasefire and conclude a peace treaty for peace and national reunification, carrying forward the soul of those who fell in actions for independence and reunification.

They demanded the dismantlement of the "UN Command" and immediate withdrawal of the U.S. troops from south Korea.
