Kim Jong Un, first secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, first chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army, was present at the banquet.

Also present there were Choe Ryong Hae, Jang Song Thaek, Kim Kyong Hui, Kim Ki Nam, Kim Yong Chun, Kang Sok Ju, Kim Won Hong, Kim Yang Gon, Choe Pu Il and other senior party, state and army officials, KPA commanding officers, chief secretaries of the provincial party committees, war veterans, those of meritorious services during the war and labor innovators.

A performance was given by the Moranbong Band to congratulate the anniversary of the war victory, prior to the banquet.

It began with the playing of the national anthem. Put on the stage were instrumental music and song "Go All Out for Victory in the War", female duet and pangchang immortal masterpiece "Song of Best Wishes", light music "Mungyong Pass", female solo and pangchang "Tell, Fireworks of War Victory", instrumental music and song "Long Live Generalissimo Kim Il Sung", female chorus "Tribute to Victors in Great Annals" and female chorus "July 27 March".

KPA Vice Marshal Choe Ryong Hae, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the C.C., WPK and director of the General Political Bureau of the KPA, made a speech at the banquet.

He said:

The great Generalissimo Kim Il Sung wrought unprecedented military miracles in the world history of wars by wisely leading the army and people of the DPRK with his Juche-based military idea, superb strategy and tactics and extraordinary commanding art. These undying feats will always go down in the history of the country.

The proud history of the July 27 victory is being firmly carried forward down through generations.

The DPRK won victory after victory in the gunfire less fierce confrontation with the U.S. imperialists and fully demonstrated the dignity and might of Songun Korea as it was led by the great Generalissimo Kim Jong Il, an illustrious commander of Mt. Paektu.

The army and people of the DPRK have firmly protected the sovereignty of the country and given a steady continuity to the history of war victory which was started in Mt. Paektu thanks to the brilliant wisdom, matchless grit and outstanding leadership of Kim Jong Un.

Kim Jong Un invited war veterans and those of meritorious services during the war to come close to him and had a photo taken with them.
