SL Abolition, Release of Prisoners of Conscience Urged in S. Korea
Pyongyang, August 3 (KCNA) -- The Joint Action of Releasing Prisoners of Conscience in south Korea held a press conference in Seoul on July 31. It groups 16 human rights and social organizations including the Confederation of Trade Unions and the Family Movement for Realizing Democracy.

It demanded the release of all prisoners of conscience who were unreasonably arrested by evil laws against human rights and the politically-motivated suppression.

A press release was read out at the conference.

It deplored that the prisoners of conscience are suffering behind bars owing to the "Security Law" (SL) and other evil laws for the mere reason that they took part in candlelight actions and strikes.

It urged the present regime to stop at once the crackdown upon the human rights, immediately abolish the evil laws and release all the prisoners of conscience.

At the end of the conference, members of the Joint Action went to Chongwadae and handed over to it the signature paper and petition of people from all walks of life and human rights and social organizations demanding the release of all prisoners of conscience and the list of prisoners of conscience.
