DPRK Witnesses Exceptionally Heavy Rainfall in July
Pyongyang, August 3 (KCNA) -- An average of 651 mm rainfall was observed in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea in July, the record high in the history of the Meteorological Observation or 2.5 times higher than the average.

It rained 1 598 mm in Unsan County, 1 236 mm in Tongchang Country, 1 225 mm in Thaechon County and 1 161 mm in Kusong City in North Phyongan Province, 1 225 mm in Sepho County and 1 216 mm in Phyonggang County, 1 163 mm in Phangyo County and 1 112 mm in Popdong County in Kangwon Province, 1 214 mm in Tongsin County in Jagang Province and 1 174 mm in Sinphyong County in North Hwanghae Province.

A total of 20 localities in the country experienced over 90 percent of yearly rainfall in the month.

In the month more than 80 localities in North and South Phyongan provinces, Jagang Province, South Hamgyong Province and Kangwon Province had the largest amount of precipitation ever in the history of the Meteorological Observation.

The highest precipitation in the month of July was observed in 1963 in the country, with record of 460 mm rainfall.
