Pyongyang, August 4 (KCNA) -- An international seminar took place in Tokyo on August 1 to mark the 60th anniversary of the conclusion of the Armistice Agreement. Former U.S. Attorney General Ramsey Clark in a report said that he was deeply impressed to see the struggle of the DPRK people during his visit to the country on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Korean people's victory in the Fatherland Liberation War. He noted he was convinced there are no "human rights abuses" in the DPRK claimed by Western countries. He noted that the U.S. hostile policy toward the DPRK has a baneful impact on the regional situation as it stirs up the war atmosphere on the Korean Peninsula. Saying the U.S. sanctions put pressure on the DPRK, he urged the former to roll back its hostile policy toward the latter and come out for the conclusion of a peace treaty. Honorary Professor Michel Chossudovsky of University of Ottawa in Canada in a report said that the U.S. is bringing the danger of a war to the Korean Peninsula and has kept DPRK-targeted nuclear weapons in south Korea for more than half a century, escalating the tension. The DPRK, victim of the U.S. aggression, is compelled to bolster up its capability for self-defence, he stressed. Speeches were made there. The speakers recalled that the U.S. government has ceaselessly staged military exercises and perpetrated provocations against the DPRK under the simulated conditions of contingency on the Korean Peninsula, adding that this seriously threatens peace on the peninsula. They declared that it is the policy of the U.S. government to preserve the war state and the world peace-loving people should never pardon it. They demanded the U.S. lift the sanctions against the DPRK and pursue a foreign policy based on respect and equality. A press conference was held prior to the seminar. Speakers there underscored the need to force all the U.S. troops to pull out of the Korean Peninsula and achieve the independent and peaceful reunification of Korea without fail. |
