Pyongyang, August 5 (KCNA) -- The Solidarity Association for Enforcement of Special Law for A-bomb Victims and Their Children in south Korea held a press conference outside the building of the Japanese embassy in Seoul on August 1 urging the Japanese government to make reparation to the A-bomb victims. A lot of Koreans were killed by the A-bombs dropped by the U.S. in Japan in August, 1945. Most of those who narrowly escaped death at that time have already died. Worse still, the descendants of the victims are suffering from aftermath of the bombings including various diseases and disorder. The speakers at the conference recalled that open questionnaires were sent to the Japanese government on March 4 in demand of correct fact-finding survey of the victims and its apology and reparation to them but it evaded its responsibility, refusing to send a reply to them. They urged the government of Japan, a war criminal state, to immediately make an apology and reparation to the victims. They, at the same time, urged the U.S. and the Japanese government to fully open to public all the data related to the truth about the damage done by the A-bombs. The organization demanded the present south Korean authorities institute a special law on the A-bomb victims and their second and third generations and adopt a "government" resolution for settling the problem. |
