Pyongyang, August 9 (KCNA) -- A wartime song "At the Spring Site" was put on stage as female quintet at the performance of the Moranbong Band which was given some days ago in honor of the participants in the military parade for celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Korean people's victory in the Fatherland Liberation War. The song, vibrant with the feelings of unity between the army and the people, was created in Juche 41 (1952) when the Korean War (June 1950 -July 1953) was going on. It was written by Choe Ro Sa, who was a military nurse at that time. Choe was a student of Kim Il Sung University before joining the army. One spring day in 1951, she went to a spring site of a rural village to prepare breakfast, while on a duty of evacuating wounded soldiers to the rear. At the site, she saw some soldiers talking with girls doing their wash while singing songs. She instantly took out a pen and wrote words for what she saw. A year later, the song was composed by Yun Sung Jin, who was active at an art troupe. The song became a hit, as it lively represented the kinship between servicepersons and civilians. Soon it swept through the country, enjoying great popularity among the local people. |
