After putting Korea under their occupation for over four decades early in the last century the Japanese imperialists enforced a harsh colonial rule, inflicting untold misfortune, sufferings and sacrifice on the Korean nation, the appeal said, and continued:

Japan is now busy concealing and distorting history of aggression and crimes, far from making an apology and reparation for the past crimes. It is even openly revealing its attempt to seize Tok Islets.

The All-Korean Committee appealed as follows to all the Koreans, solemnly declaring its firm will to take the lead in ushering in the new era of peace, reunification and prosperity through the great unity of the nation under the banner of the north-south joint declaration, on the occasion of the 68th anniversary of Korea's liberation:

The north and the south should promote reconciliation and unity and activate cooperation and exchange.

The Korean nation has the July 4 joint statement which clarifies the basic principles of national reunification and the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration which provide a decisive phase for nation's reconciliation and unity in the new century.

All the Koreans at home and abroad should respect the agreements between the north and the south and actively turn out for their implementation.

All acts of slandering and antagonizing each other should be refrained so as to end distrust and confrontation between compatriots.

What our nation wants is reconciliation, unity, peace and prosperity, not confrontation and war.

The creation of special zone for peace and cooperation in the West Sea is a practical way of removing military tensions and conflicts and paving a wide avenue for peace and prosperity.

All military exercises and acts of slandering and antagonizing the fellow countrymen should be stopped in relations between the north and the south and everything should be orientated to defusing military tensions and ensuring peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula.

It is an important task faced by the Korean nation to force Japan to make apology and reparation for the past crimes it committed against the Korean nation and thwart its moves for militarist revival.

All the Koreans should unite to resolutely deter Japan from lurching to the right and intensifying its moves for militarist reinvasion.

A nationwide movement should be waged to wrest apology and reparation from Japan for its past crimes.

Let us open up the future of peace and prosperity through the great unity of the nation in the same spirit of independence and sovereignty as displayed by the anti-Japanese forerunners.

The All-Korean Committee will always take the lead in the way of pooling the intentions and minds of all the Koreans for nation's reconciliation, cooperation, exchange and peace and reunification.
