Improvement of Inter-Korean Relations Urged in S. Korea
Pyongyang, August 16 (KCNA) -- The Committee for Promoting the August 15 Meeting for Independent Reunification on the 68th Anniversary of the Country's Liberation in south Korea held a press conference in Seoul on August 13 at which it demanded the present regime opt for improving the inter-Korean relations and realizing peace on the Korean Peninsula.

The floor was taken by Han Chung Mok, co-representative of the Solidarity for Progress, Ri Kwang Sok, chairman of the Federation of Peasants Associations, and others.

Speakers said tensions have not yet been defused on the Korean Peninsula due to the ceaseless war maneuvers of the U.S. and south Korean authorities.

Peace cannot be realized with the Armistice Agreement, they said, urging the U.S. to stop the hostile aggressive war maneuvers and opt for the negotiations for concluding a peace treaty at once.

They also urged the south Korean regime to stop the military hostile policy and do its best to create circumstances for starting negotiations on peace.

They noted that people aspiring after reunification will get united to fight against the anti-reunification policy of the regime.

They stressed they would kindle a torch for peace and reunification through the current August 15 meeting.
