Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex Introduces New Technologies into Production
Pyongyang, August 17 (KCNA) -- About 190 new technological innovation proposals have been introduced into production of iron and steel at the Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex this year.

The workers and technicians of the Blast Furnace Shop in cooperation with technicians in the field of electricity and automation succeeded in rationally modifying a skip converter, increasing the feeding capacity of raw materials and fuel 20 percent.

Rational methods of charge distribution and control of pressure inside furnace have also been introduced into blast furnace No. 3

Steel Shop No. 1 applied a new technical proposal helpful to lengthening the life of oxygen converter and raising steel productivity as compared with those in the past.

The workers and technicians of Steel Shop No. 2 introduced the method of heating the great ladle by use of high-temperature air combustion technology, thus making it possible to keep production going at a high rate while cutting down gas consumption by more than half.

Oxygen Shop No. 2 and the Hot-rolling Shop succeeded in remarkably cutting down the operation time of a large oxygen separator. The technological updating of finish rolling and winding and plating are pushed forward at a final phase.

A dynamic technological drive was also waged at Sintering Shops Nos. 1 and 2, Fire-resisting Material Shop, Concentrated Ore Supplying Shop No. 1, Pipe Transport Station and other units.
