9.5 Million Visited Oun Revolutionary Site for 30 Odd Years

Pyongyang, August 19 (KCNA) -- The Oun Revolutionary Site is visited by an endless stream of service personnel and people on the occasion of the Day of Songun. The site is associated with the undying exploits of leader Kim Jong Il. Kim Jong Il provided field guidance to the Seoul Ryu Kyong Su Guards 105th Tank Division of the Korean People's Army on August 25, Juche 49 (1960) as the first step of his Songun revolutionary leadership. This day is significantly celebrated as the Day of Songun in the DPRK. The Oun Revolutionary Site is a meaning place where Kim Jong Il conducted original ideological, theoretical and military activities from August 20 to October 4, Juche 51 (1962) when he was conducting revolutionary activities at Kim Il Sung University. Preserved at the site in their original state are the barrack where he stayed, the political department office of battalion, tunnel, several drilling grounds and other relics and data. More than 9.5 million people including service personnel of the Korean People's Army and the Korean People's Internal Security Forces, people, youth and students visited the site for over three decades. The number of visitors totaled more than 130,000 this year alone. |
