The first secretary of the territorial committee was elected chairman of the preparatory committee.

The preparatory committee fixed a celebration period from Aug. 19 to Sept. 9 and decided to widely introduce the exploits performed by President Kim Il Sung in the nation-building and the Songun revolutionary leadership feats of Kim Jong Il.

It also decided to organize diverse political and cultural events to express support and solidarity for the Korean people who are stepping up the building of a thriving socialist nation under the leadership of Marshal Kim Jong Un.
