The games are under way in different parts of the city, divided into diverse events including football, basketball, volleyball, table-tennis, swimming, Taekwon-do and tug of war.

A swimming contest was held on Wednesday at the swimming gymnasium of Kim Il Sung University. The gymnasium was replete with sports enthusiasm.

The contest included 100-meter and 200-meter freestyle, 100-meter and 200-meter breaststroke and 400-meter relay freestyle events.

In the contest, students of Kim Il Sung University won the titles of men's and women's events. The second and third places were taken by Kim Chol Ju University of Education and Pyongyang University of Foreign Studies in men's events and by Pyongyang Teacher Training College and Kim Chol Ju University of Education in women's events.

Kim Kum Hyok, a student of Kim Il Sung University, told KCNA:

"My success in the contest is thanks to this good swimming gymnasium equipped with all conditions for training.

I will further develop my physical strength and study hard for my country."
