The statement said:

Kim Jong Il's field guidance to Seoul Ryu Kyong Su Guards 105th Tank Division of the Korean People's Army on Aug. 25, 1960 marked a significant event which heralded his succession to the Songun revolutionary cause.

He performed immortal exploits on behalf of the times and revolution, the country and humankind with his outstanding idea and extraordinary leadership for half a century.

In those days when he started his Songun revolutionary leadership the U.S. imperialists escalated international tensions to an extreme pitch and the modern revisionists, scared by this, pressurized the DPRK to give up its anti-imperialist stand while talking about "peaceful co-existence and cooperation".

But he declared that he would further bolster up the revolutionary armed forces, true to the noble intention of President Kim Il Sung.

He trained the People's Army as an invincible revolutionary army for more than half a century since he embarked upon the road of Songun revolution.

The Juche-oriented Songun revolutionary cause is now making dynamic progress without an inch of deflection under the leadership of Marshal Kim Jong Un.
