Amateur Table-Tennis Tournament to Be Held in DPRK

| Pyongyang, August 24 (KCNA) -- The 2013 Amateur Table-Tennis Tournament will take place at the indoor stadium of Kim Chaek University of Technology here from August 25 to September 1 to mark the 65th birthday of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. The tournament is aimed at improving the health of disabled persons and helping them contribute to society and collective. It will bring together disabled persons and amateurs selected in the preliminaries held in North and South Phyongan and Hamgyong and Kangwon provinces. From each province three top players and three others who showed strong mental power, fortitude and noble traits in the preliminaries will compete in singles and doubles. The tournament will be participated in by disabled persons of 12 years and upward and male amateurs over 38 and female amateurs over 35. The top players will be awarded cups, medals and prizes. |
