General Secretary Kim Jong Il started his Songun revolutionary leadership by providing field guidance to Seoul Ryu Kyong Su Guards 105th Tank Division of the Korean People's Army on Aug. 25, Juche 49 (1960). This marked a significant event which heralded succession to the revolutionary cause of Juche, says Rodong Sinmun in an editorial. It goes on:

Thanks to his start of the Songun revolutionary leadership, the precious history and tradition of the Korean revolution pioneered and advanced with arms have been given steady continuity and there came a new era of the Juche revolution winning victory after victory under the banner of Songun.

Kim Jong Il regarded it as his lifelong mission to carry forward and accomplish the Songun revolutionary cause pioneered by President Kim Il Sung. Kim Jong Il led the Korean revolution along the road of steady victories with his rare wisdom, outstanding commanding art and prodigious grit.

His Songun revolutionary history is shining as an immortal heroic epic in which he developed the Korean People's Army into the mainstay and main force of the revolution and built the DPRK into a political and military power by dint of tremendous military muscle.

His history of Songun revolution is shedding its rays as the one of patriotic devotion as he provided a firm foundation guaranteeing the prosperity of Songun Korea and happiness of the generations to come.

The Songun revolutionary cause of Juche pioneered by Generalissimo Kim Il Sung and led by Generalissimo Kim Jong Il is being steadily carried forward by Kim Jong Un, the brilliant commander of Mt. Paektu.

The DPRK will always shed its brilliant rays as the great Paektusan nation as there are the immensely glorious histories of the Generalissimos, the wise leadership of Marshal Kim Jong Un, the peerless statesman and the general of Mt. Paektu-type, and the single-minded unity of all service personnel and people rallied close around the headquarters of the revolution.

Minju Joson says that a bright future is in store for the DPRK dynamically advancing under the leadership of Kim Jong Un, calling upon all the Koreans to hold higher the banner of Songun and carry on the vigorous struggle toward a final victory under his leadership.
