In several works he clearly indicated the idea that thoroughly implementing the line on economic construction in the era of Songun provides a sure guarantee for building a thriving socialist nation where the national power is strong, everything is abundant and the people lead a worthwhile life with no more to desire in the world.

The works clarify that giving priority to pilot domains of the national economy, the basic industrial fields, is a key to rapidly developing the defense industry, light industry and agriculture all at the same time, and the idea on making a breakthrough toward the building of an economic power by shoring up power, coal and metal industries and railway transport.

Expounded in the works are the issues on developing textile, footwear industry and foodstuff processing industry, ensuring the supply of raw and other materials by relying on locally available natural resources, bringing the production of daily necessities to normal, diversifying consumer goods to cater for the people's demands and taste and thoroughly meeting the scientific and technological demands in producing goods.

Also contained in the works are the ideas on taking a firm hold on the Workers' Party of Korea's policy of effecting a turn in agriculture, introducing modern scientific and technological achievements into agriculture, channeling all efforts into farming to drastically increase agricultural production so as to solve the food shortage.

The works lay out the tasks and ways for significantly developing the country's economy by pushing back the frontiers of latest science and technology in all fields and units in keeping with the requirements of the IT age.
