The great Generalissimo Kim Jong Il visited Seoul Ryu Kyong Su Guards 105th Tank Division of the Korean People's Army (KPA) on August 25, 1960.

Thanks to this significant day, the history and tradition of the Korean revolution that started and victoriously advanced with arms have been steadily carried forward and the new era of the Juche revolution, the great Songun era advancing triumphantly along the way of Songun, has opened.

The Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly decided as follows reflecting the unanimous will and desire of the Workers' Party of Korea and the army and people of the DPRK who are faithfully inheriting and glorifying forever the Songun revolutionary idea and exploits of the Generalissimo and opening up a new bright history of Songun Korea:

1. It is decided that August 25, Day of Songun when the great Generalissimo Kim Jong Il started his Songun revolutionary leadership, is to be marked as national holiday.

2. August 25 every year will be a national holiday.

3. Units and sub-units of the KPA will hoist colors of the Supreme Commander of the KPA on this day.

4. State institutions, enterprises, organizations and families will hoist flags of the DPRK on the day.

A decree on this was issued by the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly on Monday.
