The line calls for giving priority to the development of defence industry while developing light industry and agriculture simultaneously in the Songun (military-first) era.

The work says the line economically ensures the Songun revolutionary leadership and the Songun politics of the Workers' Party of Korea and makes it possible to bring about a radical turn in improving the people's livelihood by appropriately combining the defence industry and economic building.

Since the publication of the work, the DPRK has registered signal successes in the economy on the basis of the achievements gained in defence industry.

Under Kim Jong Il's leadership, the defence industry was put on IT basis, which has propelled the development of heavy industry.

Production potentials were remarkably increased in light industry and agriculture.

A large number of foodstuff factories, including the Samilpho Specialties Factory and the Jangjasan Combined Foodstuff Factory, were built on a modern basis in different parts of the country, while many light industrial factories were updated, including Pyongyang Wheat Flour Processing Factory, Pyongyang Cosmetics Factory and Pyongyang Essential Foodstuff Factory.

The projects of land rezoning, nature-driven waterways, large-scale fruit producers and stockbreeding bases were completed, laying a solid foundation for growth of agricultural production.

All these achievements lively represent the vitality of the line.
