The statement said the chief executive of south Korea convened a "state security meeting" at the underground war commanding post of Chongwadae shortly ago. Her remarks were clearly aimed at inciting war hysteria against the DPRK, it added.

Her remarks calling for "getting combat-ready regardless of change in the south-north relations and the situation in surrounding areas" showed that she is denying dialogue with the DPRK and spoiling it and trying to live depending on outside forces including the U.S. pursuant to the old and reactionary policy of confrontation, it said.

It expressed full support for the Aug. 20 statement of the spokesman for the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of Korea.

It urged the south Korean authorities to stop making such provocative and evil remarks and halt the war exercises for aggression with the U.S., in particular.
