Mass Killings of Koreans by Japanese Imperialists during Great Kanto Quake Exposed

Pyongyang, August 30 (KCNA) -- There took place a meeting in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan on August 24 to disclose the truth about the mass killings of Koreans committed by the Japanese imperialists during the great Kanto quake. Present there were Koreans in Japan and Japanese citizens. Shown at the meeting was a film "Hidden Fingernail Scratch" which shows the massacres of Koreans by the Japanese imperialists. The film was produced by a Korean in Japan in 1983. It deals with the fate of the Koreans taken to Japan during the Japanese imperialist colonial rule and the misfortunes and pain suffered by them due to the mass killings of Koreans committed by the Japanese authorities during the great Kanto quake. Then a lecture was given under the sponsorship of the Kanagawa committee for marking the lapse of 90 years since the massacre of Koreans during the great Kanto quake. A lecturer and a speaker explained how the monument to the Koreans killed during the great quake was erected in Yahiro of Sumida Ward. They referred to the testimonies made by witnesses, mass killings and the fact that even the names of most of the victims have not been known, adding they would continue conducting activities to make the truth about the massacre known to posterity. Japan should own the responsibility for the massacre of Koreans without fail, they held, calling on all to take active part in the Kanagawa meeting for commemorating the lapse of 90 years since massacre of Koreans during the great Kanto quake slated to take place on September 1. |
