S. Korean Radio Accuses Japan of Twisting Massacre of Koreans during Kanto Quake
Pyongyang, August 31 (KCNA) -- It has been disclosed that Japan twisted the massacre of Koreans committed by it during the great Kanto quake in the history textbook, according to south Korean KBS on Friday.

When the people grew grievous about huge damage caused by the great quake in Kanto area of Japan on September 1, 1923, the Japanese imperialists spread a rumor that Koreans set fire for the purpose of calming down it.

They hurled troops, police and even "ultra-right organizations" made up of civilians into operations to massacre Koreans.

A Japanese painter who witnessed the massacre on the spot at that time drew a painting depicting Japanese troops, police and "ultra-right organizations" killing Koreans.

Last year the Yokohama City Education Committee included this fact in the history textbook for secondary school, admitting the government's involvement.

But this year it deleted the government's involvement from this history textbook and said "ultra-right organizations" killed Koreans.

In protest against this action conscious intellectuals of Japan visited the committee and demanded it rectify the mistake.

Reporting about this, KBS queried whether Japanese believe that the crimes of their ancestors will disappear if the Japanese tell lies after deleting their past crimes from the textbook.
