S. Korean Pro-Reunification Progressive Declared Not Guilty
Pyongyang, August 31 (KCNA) -- The south Korean Seoul High Court declared not guilty Paek Ki Wan, director of the Unification Study Center, who fought against the "yusin constitution" during the past fascist dictatorship, according to the south Korean Kyunghyang Daily.

In 1974 the fascist authorities sentenced him to 15 years in prison and 15 years of suspension of qualification and then 12 years in prison and 12 years of suspension of qualification by invoking the provision of the brigandish "emergency step" aimed to put down the struggle for democracy against fascism for staging actions against the long-term office of the "yusin" dictator.

In this connection the court declared him not guilty, claiming that "emergency step" No. 1 abridged and encroached upon the freedom and rights of the people.
